Miss Leaf River Valley Speaks to the 1st Grade
Jerrilyn Lake, Miss Leaf River Valley, spoke to Mrs. Bullock and Mrs. Reyer’s first grade classes at Rawls Springs Attendance Center about staying in school and being anything they want to be. Her platform is “Dropout Prevention”. Jerrilyn will compete in the Miss Mississippi Pageant in Vicksburg on June 27-30 2012.

Teacher of the Year
Helen Murphey was recently selected at the Rawls Springs Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Murphey has been at Rawls Springs for 5 years. Since arriving at Rawls Springs Mrs. Murphey has performed at a high level pushing her students to achieve at levels comparable to those throughout, not only the district, but the state. Mrs. Murphey teaches math to both 5th and 6th grades. During her tenure she has be a valuable part of the Rawls Springs team, helping to move the school from a ranking of “At Risk of Failure” to Successful in a mere 3 years. In addition, to teaching at such a successful level, Mrs. Murphey teaches her students to love Math, which is no small feat. Her professionalism and compassion for her students is apparent in her daily activities.
